An ECG shield for the Arduino looked perfect for prototype.

It came with straps for your wrists and a leg (reference signal)

I wrote a program in python to monitor the ECG signal.

Here is how it is intended to be used.

But we wanted to use it on the palms of the hand so I did a few tests for the signal quality.

Could we use the hand as a reference?

Could we just hold the electrodes?

Conclusion was that it looked like it would do the job of capturing the ECG.
