Three new projects announced

From 360° cinema to site-specific stories triggered by torches, REACT are delighted to announce three additions to their Strategic Funds portfolio.

REACT are delighted to announce three additions to their strategic projects portfolio. All three will receive feasibility funding to take the first steps in developing an idea or partnership. The fund provides an opportunity to explore potential audiences and markets, and plan the next steps in a project’s development.

About the projects:

Doc 360: Much has been made of the use of immersive cinema for entertainment and spectacle, but what about using it for community documentary? This collaboration between Cardiff video company On Par Productions, cultural media expert Dr Kerry Moore and the Urban Reaction Research Lab will look at how to use projection domes to house an immersive, communicative experience.

Testimony: using a rarely seen collection of footage and archive documents about boy soldiers from World War One, Testimony will research how to combine a game with documentary elements to make archives a compelling, living proposition in the digital age. This project is a collaboration between documentary maker Steve Humphries, Lynn Barlow (University of the West of England) and Bristol new media company, Clockwork Cuckoo.

With New Eyes I See explores whether documentary can become an experience or a journey beyond the screen. The partnership between Dr Jenny Kidd (Cardiff University) and creative marketing agency yello brick, will research a site specific documentary using torches, projection and RFID to trigger content as participants walk around Alexandra Gardens in Cardiff.

We expect to announce further opportunities to apply to the strategic fund after the Summer. Watch this space or contact producer Gabriel Gilson for more details.
